Vallarta Shuttle offers two pricing structures: per-seat shared shuttle ($16.50/person to Vidanta, $20/person to Nuevo Vallarta) and per-vehicle private taxi (from $50 for nearby zones like Marina Vallarta, up to $161 for Punta Mita). All private taxi prices are all-inclusive: driver, tolls, flight tracking, and bottled water. No add-ons at the vehicle.
Shared shuttle pricing (per seat)
The shared per-seat shuttle is available to two zones: Vidanta and Nuevo Vallarta. You pay only for the seats your party occupies — a solo traveler pays $16.50 or $20, a couple pays double. The shuttle departs once the vehicle has enough passengers (typically 20–40 minutes). Shared shuttle pricing:
| Destination | Price per seat | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Vidanta (Grand Luxxe, Mayan Palace, etc.) | $16.50/person | Nayarit — North on Federal 200 |
| Nuevo Vallarta | $20/person | Nayarit — North on Federal 200 |
Private taxi pricing (full vehicle)
Private taxi prices are per vehicle, not per person. Whether you travel solo or with 7 passengers, the price is the same. All prices are all-inclusive: driver compensation, airport tolls, flight tracking, and bottled water. Child seats are available at no extra charge.
| Destination zone | Private taxi price | Approx. drive time |
|---|---|---|
| Marina Vallarta | From $50 | 15–22 min |
| Zona Hotelera / Hotel Zone | From $52 | 18–25 min |
| Conchas Chinas | From $58 | 20–28 min |
| Vidanta (also has shuttle) | From $53/vehicle | 20–28 min |
| Nuevo Vallarta (also has shuttle) | From $58/vehicle | 22–30 min |
| Bucerías | From $67 | 28–35 min |
| La Cruz de Huanacaxtle | From $91 | 35–45 min |
| La Cruz – Punta Burro | From $128 | 45–55 min |
| Punta Burro / El Corral | From $141 | 50–60 min |
| Punta de Mita | From $161 | 55–70 min |
| Sayulita | From $151 | 55–65 min |
| Mismaloya (south zone) | From $151 | 40–55 min |
When does private taxi beat shared shuttle on value?
For groups of 3 or more going to Vidanta or Nuevo Vallarta, the private taxi costs the same or less per person than the shared shuttle: 3 × $20 = $60 for shuttle vs. $58/vehicle for private. For 4 passengers: $80 shuttle vs. $58 private — private wins by $22. The crossover point for Nuevo Vallarta is 3 people. For Vidanta it is approximately 4 people.
Shuttle vs. taxi by zone: complete price comparison
Only two of Vallarta Shuttle’s 12 active zones — Vidanta and Nuevo Vallarta — offer the shared per-seat shuttle. Every other zone, including nearby Marina Vallarta and the more distant Riviera Nayarit villages, is served exclusively by private taxi. The table below puts both prices side by side, zone by zone, so you can see exactly where a shared option exists and where private taxi is your only choice.
| Zone | Shared shuttle (per seat) | Private taxi (per vehicle) | Choose shuttle if… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marina Vallarta | Not offered | From $50 | — (taxi only) |
| Zona Hotelera | Not offered | From $52 | — (taxi only) |
| Conchas Chinas | Not offered | From $58 | — (taxi only) |
| Vidanta | $16.50/seat | From $53 | Traveling solo or as a couple (1–3 people) |
| Nuevo Vallarta | $20/seat | From $58 | Traveling solo or as a couple (1–2 people) |
| Bucerías | Not offered | From $67 | — (taxi only) |
| La Cruz de Huanacaxtle | Not offered | From $91 | — (taxi only) |
| La Cruz – Punta Burro | Not offered | From $128 | — (taxi only) |
| Punta Burro / El Corral | Not offered | From $141 | — (taxi only) |
| Punta de Mita | Not offered | From $161 | — (taxi only) |
| Sayulita | Not offered | From $151 | — (taxi only) |
| Mismaloya | Not offered | From $151 | — (taxi only) |
The pattern is geographic, not price-based: Marina Vallarta, Zona Hotelera, and Conchas Chinas are the closest zones to PVR yet still taxi-only, because the shared shuttle route runs north into the Nayarit resort corridor, not along the Jalisco coastline. Zones farther north and west of Nuevo Vallarta — Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, La Cruz–Punta Burro, Punta Burro/El Corral, and Punta de Mita — plus the outlying south zone of Mismaloya and north zone of Sayulita, are private-taxi-only simply because no shared route currently serves them. In practical terms: proximity to the airport does not predict which pricing structure applies to your zone — always check the table above rather than assuming a nearby zone has the cheaper per-seat option.
Use this rule of thumb: if your hotel is in Vidanta or Nuevo Vallarta and you are traveling with 1–2 people, the shared shuttle is the cheapest option. If you are a group of 3 or more anywhere on the shuttle route, or your hotel is in any of the other 10 zones, book the private taxi — the price is per vehicle, not per person, so it is often the only economical choice for families and groups regardless of destination.
One more thing worth knowing when you compare the numbers in the table: a private taxi seats up to 7 passengers per booking. That means most families and small groups need only one vehicle at the single all-inclusive price shown above, rather than buying multiple per-seat shuttle tickets — one more reason private taxi tends to win on total cost outside the two shuttle zones.
